CHAPTER 32 - INFUSION THERAPY

Translated by Luxican

Yun Sheng had watched silently throughtout the course of the light magic treatment.

She didn't even flinch at Yang Magician's taunting words.

She crisply ordered the remaining two villagers, who had also brought the village head into the room : " Uncle Li, get a few clean and thin reed poles, a few thick bamboo sticks and good shochu for me."

Yun Sheng'words sounded like they had nothing to do with the treatment.

Yang Magician had a sneer on his face, he wanted to see what Yun Sheng was going to do.

Ye Beiming had already left the house a while ago, and heard the entirety of the dispute between Yun Sheng and Yang Magician.

She knew that Yang Magician was a dangerous black magician, and even then she would compete with him.

That night she had also said, " I, Yun Sheng, have never let a patient of mine die."

Where did she get her confidence and arrogance from? She was only a six-year-old girl!

The things Yun Sheng asked for were soon prepared, while everyone outside the Magic Temple, including Grandma Liu, were anxiously waiting for the result of the treatment.

Those villagers who returned with the village head were slightly puzzled.

When the village chief was injured, they also looked for a pharmacist in Tai Shang Town. Everyone of them said the same thing as Yang Magician.

And now the life and death of the village head depended on a six-year-old girl.

Could a miracle really happen?

In the Magic Temple, Yun Sheng was now finally ready. This time the treatment would be even more difficult than that of the two-headed dog.

Everything Yun Sheng would do now would go beyond the medical knowledge of the Wu Ji Continent.

Fortunately, only four people were present in the Magic Temple.

The two villagers knew nothing about medicine. Yang Magician on the other hand knew of magical treatment and magic medicine. She wasn't sure if he also  knew of ancient medicine. And as for Ye Beiming, he was a blind man. Yun Sheng had already thought about it thoroughly.

Yun Sheng took out the set of bone needles, that she always had with her., as well as the uniquely shaped beast bone scalpel.

Yang Magician raised his eyebrows at this, but didn't  care too much.

As Yun Sheng thought, the difference between ancient medicine and magic therapy, was considerable. Although the two had competed against each other for thousands of years already, no magician or doctor had ever crossed the line for a deeper understanding.

Yun Sheng mixed salt and sugar as well as the powder of a Baixi Stone. ( A white stone the civilians of the continent used, after a special fermentation technique, for various types of bread and other products. That stone contained baking soda, also known as hydrogen pthalate in modern times.)

Burns with dehydration, were already an extremely hard injury to cure, on the mainland, unless the magician was a powerful light magician as well as a magician proficient in advanced water spells it couldn't be cured.

However, a dual-element wizard of this level was extremely hard to find on the whole continent, let alone Jiao Ye Village. And even if these people were found, they were highly respected and it  would be absolutely impossible to treat civilians of such a remote and small village as Jiao Ye Village.

That's why Yang Magician said that the village chief couldn't be saved.

What would a medicine, made with salt, sugar and stone powder, even do?

Was there such a medicine in the ancient medicine?

Yang Magician watched as Yun Sheng tried to feed the village head the medicine, but she quickly gave up.

Yun Sheng had found that the village chief's pupils already started to lose focus, his breathing was disrupted, and his pulse was also gradually weakening. This was a sign of severe dehydration, leading to visceral  failure.

It was to late to use oral rehydration, with salt, sugar and water, luckily Yun Sheng had already prepared for the worst case.

She quickly laid the village chief flat on the ground, she sealed the two ends of the bamboo stick and cut a small hole in the  joint and stuck one of the flexible reed rod in the hole, she had connected the two to form a simple injection device.

Severe dehydration required intravenous injection.

She had no choice but replenish the body fluid directly. Yun Sheng's eyebrows were knitted together, as the slender fingers held the syringe tightly. She used the internal force in her body and silently injected it into the flexible reed tube.

The reed tube immediately hardened, and became similar to a metal needle, as it pierced the village chief's vein.

Now the salt and sugar water in the bamboo flowed down into the veins and swiftly replenished the lost water of the village head.

After the injection of the salt and sugar water the pulse of the village chief and his barely moving chest gradually returned to normal, even his lips gained more color.

At this moment the village chief opened his eyes with difficulty and called out in a weak voice : " Xiao Sheng, it you."

Yun Sheng's hand that held the transfusion set, shook slightly.

The most dangerous moment had passed. For the internal injuries that remained, she only needed to give him a few other medicines later.

Two sweat drops appeared on Yang Magician's forehead, as Yun Sheng bent over, and whispered into the ear of the village head : " Grandpa village head, welcome back."

Yang Magician was petrified.  All the people of Jiao Ye Village who stayed around the Magic Temple cheered. They all came forward to look, while others ran to spread the news of the recovery of the village chief.

Moments later,  there were many loud voices outside the Magic Temple. The villagers rushed in like a tide, even the door of the Magic Temple broke under the mass of people.

Grandma Liu was supported by one of the villagers as she hobbled in the temple. The moment she saw the village chief , she began to cry.

Yun Sheng signaled the other villagers to not disturb the village head, he still needed to rest.

Grandma Liu went to the the village chief's side. Their hands were tightly clasped together. Like they promised in the past, they would grow old together in Jiao Ye Village.

Yun Sheng's success meant the failure of Yang Magician.

Because even though he expended his magic power and healed the village chief, in the eyes of the villagers, the one to rescue the village chief was Yun Sheng.

As Yang Magician witnessed this scene, he began to hate Yun Sheng. He glanced at her and only muttered a few words: " Good, very good, just wait and see."

Yun Sheng stepped aside, and just like an outsider looked on  silently, as if she hadn't performed medical treatment, as if it wasn't her who saved the wounded.

For Yun Sheng, this operation wasn't without any benefits.

She felt that her internal force had improved a lot during the treatment, and her other skills also had improved by varying degrees.

Medicine and the Yan family's techniques really complimented each other.

Yun Sheng seemed indifferent, but if they looked carefully at her eyes at this time, they would definitely find something.

Her gaze was clear.

The village chief's injury had to be avenged.

The blood debt had to be paid.
